What can you expect if you take a yoga class with me?  Well, if you’ve ever felt left behind in a yoga class, my classes are for you!  You are encouraged to embrace your perceived flaws and work around any injuries.  Learn how to use props such as blocks, straps and bolsters to make a pose more accessible – and interesting!

In each class, we explore asana, pranayama (breath control techniques), mudra (hand gestures) and meditation.  I bring my Physio and holistic therapist background into classes by weaving in functional movement and self massage.

Our busy and stressful lives leave us living in our heads.  What may surprise you is that some time around the 4th century CE, Patanjali, the father of yoga, defined yoga as “yogas chitta vritti nirodah”.  Amazingly, this roughly translates as ‘yoga stills the fluctuations of the mind’.  This explains why you leave a yoga class feeling more present in your body, and less like a floating head!

I believe that each one of us is magnificently unique.  Our perceived imperfections are the glue that binds us together in the human experience. By practicing self-compassion through the eight limbs of yoga, we become more gentle towards ourselves.  In turn, we become more calm and compassionate off the mat.
